The rotary encoders are applied  in speed control or sensing element position control system. As to the principle of the encoder signal,encoders are divided to incremental encoder and absolute encoder. Changchun Rongde Optics- encoder manufacturer tells you the encoder connection method.

Usually, the incremental encoder and rotary encoder output pulse signal directly input to the PLC. PLC uses its high-speed counter counts pulse signals to obtain the measurement results. Different types of rotary encoders output different numbers of pulses. Some rotary encoders output A, B, Z phase pulse, and some output simply A, B two-phase.

Rotary Encoder wiring steps:

1. Set the address, wiring mouth down to take rotary encoders, DIP is ten left, to the right a bit DIP.

2. Set the terminal: only when access lines, this encoder is a terminal, two terminals have hit ON; when the line and the outlet are connected both have appropriated a DIP.

3. Encoder Wiring:

1) the accessory terminals set in the DP line order

2) stripping the outer rubber layer DP line about 10cm

3) The inner metal shield repeatedly opened and strandentwining

4) Strip the wire inside the white protective layer, the shield to the ellipse marked screws, and connect the network cable, A then the Green Line, B take the red line.
