Optical sensor application in glass machine!

From the original piece of glass to the final product processed by the customer (for automotive windshield glass as an example), the glass can be broadly divided into the following processes: raw sheet cutting, edging, cleaning, screen printing, drying, tempered molding, cool down. Of course, some glasses need to be punched. If they are made of insulating glass, they need to have hollow glass processing. The following is just a few of the above-mentioned processing technology, a brief introduction to the application of photoelectric sensors in these processes.

  • Glass cutting:

The current cutting process is generally completed by an automatic cutting machine. After the machine’s photoelectric sensors detect the glass, the cutting tool cuts according to the set program. The product of this process is a certain size glass piece. In this process, two photoelectric sensors are generally used for in-situ detection of glass.

  • Edge grinding:

According to the different ways of glass placement, this process is divided into single-side grinding and horizontal double-side grinding. Vertical single-side grinding can only be used for edge grinding of two sides of the glass at a time. The horizontal double-side mill can perform edge-edging on the four corners of the two sides of the glass at a time. In this process, the photoelectric sensor is also used to detect the glass in place. When the glass is detected, the grinding wheel starts to rotate, and water is sprayed for cooling. In addition, according to the difference of the grinding angle, the edge grinding machine also divides the beveling machine and the straight edge machine.

  • Cleaning:

In this process, the photoelectric sensor is also test the glass. After the glass is detected, the solenoid valve is activated to perform water jet cleaning.

  • Screen printing:

Various patterns and figures on glass are printed through the process of screen printing. After making various patterns with screen, the screen is placed on a flat glass and a rubber scraper will be used. The ink sways horizontally on the screen, imprinting the pattern on the glass.

  • Drying:

This process is to dry the printed glass so that the ink adheres firmly to the glass. Generally, the temperature in the drying oven is about 100-200C. No photoelectric sensor is seen here.
