Offshore dredger application requirements

However, the real challenge for encoders mounted on dredged arms is the harsh working environment.

Unlike the electrical components in the cabin under the deck and in the control room, the encoder mounted on the dredging arm is exposed to the harsh environment of sea breeze, water and continuous high temperature operation. It also requires high reliability and low repair rate. There are many special requirements for the environment of the encoder:

To ensure robustness, the encoder housing must be an all-metal housing. At the same time, the outer casing material needs to be able to resist sea breeze corrosion for a long time, so the packaging and protection level of the outer casing have extremely high requirements.

Long-term high-temperature continuous work, dredgers working in the South China Sea, long-term high temperature during the day, this is not only the temperature level requirements of the encoder, but also the screening and quality management of each internal component. The requirements must be long-term aging resistance.

The other is the convenience of maintenance and maintenance. Due to the inconvenient transportation from the mainland, it is also difficult to equip all kinds of professional technicians. This encoder must be easy to detect and maintain.

In short, the encoder application here needs to be able to operate continuously under the high temperature of sea breeze, and at the same time, because the repair needs to return thousands of kilometers, its failure rate must be extremely low.
